A much-loved community event, hosted by Home Instead Brighton, Hove and Shoreham.
Since September 2021, shortly after COVID-19 restrictions lifted, Home Instead Brighton, Hove and Shoreham has been proudly hosting Tea and Something Lovely – a warm, welcoming event created to help older adults reconnect and build new friendships within the local community.
What began as a small gathering has blossomed into a much-loved community fixture. Held approximately four times a year, the event now regularly attracts a large number of attendees, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with connection, laughter and joy.
We’re delighted to partner with a variety of local performers and groups who bring their talent and warmth to every event. Entertainers include:
Blatchington Mill School – creating intergenerational joy through conversation and student performances
Dementia Singing Experience, Sussex – offering uplifting music sessions
Movingsounds – creative and inclusive musical experiences
And of course, the Home Instead team, who are always happy to join in the fun and sing along!
We’re incredibly grateful to those who help make these events possible:
A special thank you to Mayo Wynne Baxter Solicitors, whose generous sponsorship helps keep Tea and Something Lovely thriving. Their team also attends events to offer advice on a range of legal topics relevant to older adults.
They have a specialist and experienced Attorney Affairs Team who work closely with and on behalf of both Donors and Attorneys. Their bespoke Attorney Assistance Service has been designed to help Attorneys to fulfil their duties and responsibilities and has been well received by Attorneys in need of guidance and support. The team can also assist in the preparation of LPAs where capacity may be in question.
We’re grateful to Bishop Hannington Church for providing their spacious, wheelchair-accessible function room – the perfect venue to welcome everyone to our events.
Thanks to the generous support from Tesco, guests can enjoy complimentary tea, coffee, squash, cakes and snacks.
We occasionally hold raffles during our events, with prizes kindly donated by local businesses. Proceeds go to Home Instead Charities, supporting older people across the UK who need a little extra help and community connection.
At Home Instead Brighton, Hove and Shoreham, we are proud to be part of a caring, compassionate community. Through events like Tea and Something Lovely, we’re helping older adults feel valued, engaged and supported – just as they deserve.
