Why Local Families Choose Us for Live-in Care in Basingstoke

One of the most important choices a family can make is how to help a loved one as they get older. In the past, residential care was thought to be the only way to get help around the clock. However, more and more families are now realising how much live-in care in Basingstoke can change their lives.
Home is where the heart is
It may be a cliché, but at Home Instead Basingstoke we think that is exactly right. Home is where memories are made, where your routines are normal, and where being on your own seems most natural. For us, home is very much where the heart is.
With our live-in care service, your loved one can stay in their own home and get one-to-one help from a skilled carer who lives with them and is there to meet their needs as and when necessary.

What sets live-in care apart?
With live-in care you will get your carer’s undivided attention – your carer won’t be rushing off to care for the next person. This highly personalised approach means that care isn’t simply about “tasks”; it’s also about creating a relationship with someone who has the time to listen and care properly. Live-in care will give you:
- Consistency: long term carers, carefully chosen by us for their personalities, their empathy and their genuinely caring nature to make sure we provide someone you can really connect with.
- Safety and Freedom: throughout the day and night, help is always on hand, from assistance with your personal care, to support with medication, to a hand to get around. Your carer will enable you to remain part of the local community that you have come to know so well.

The Home Instead approach
Our approach to live-in care is about doing the best we can for you:
- A “Fully Managed” Service: we manage everything, including taking full responsibility for the provision of carefully selected carers, covering for any absences and replacing any carers with whom you don’t gel, ongoing regular liaison to ensure everything is working out well, and adjusting the service to suit any change in your needs. This is all done locally from our Basingstoke office, so you can relax in the knowledge that we are close at hand when needed.
- Personalised Specialist Support: our Basingstoke team has received extensive training in supporting people with more complex requirements, including dementia care and Parkinson’s care.
- Palliative Care: our extensive training includes the provision of palliative care at home, to help your family spend quality time with you at this most difficult time.
For us, it is about providing the best possible live-in care services.

Flexibility to suit your needs
Our live in care services are highly flexible:
- Second carers: because we also provide hourly care, we can easily provide a second carer when required, eg to pop in to help with your mobility or to cover for the live-in carer’s daily breaks.
- Short term live-in care: we are happy to provide short term live-in packages, eg for respite care to look after you whilst your family carer is away, or for post-hospital rehabilitation to help you complete your recovery at home.
- Part time live-in care: we are also happy to provide part time live-in care, eg for just a few days each week so as to fit in with other support arrangements that you might have.
Whatever your needs, we will always do our best to accommodate them.

FAQs
What is the cost of live-in care in Basingstoke?
The cost of live-in care is similar to the cost of a high-quality residential care home, but it comes with the extra benefits of one-on-one support and being able to remain independent, in your own home. For couples, the benefits are even more significant due to the saving in care home fees.
What could a live-in carer do?
Our live-in carers can help with a wide range of activities, including assisting with your personal care (showering, dressing and grooming etc), preparing or helping you prepare healthy meals, housework, shopping and assisting with your medication. Above all, your live-in carer will be your companion, on hand throughout the day to socialise, take you out, do those difficult little jobs and be available for any emergencies.
How would you pick the best carer for me?
We take great care to provide each client with a live-in carer who is right for them. This will start with understanding the client and their personality, background and interests etc, and matching with a carer. We will introduce our proposed carer to the client in advance, so you can be sure before we start. But we don’t stop there – if you and your carer don’t gel, we will offer someone else instead.
Is Home Instead Basingstoke regulated?
Yes. Our live-in care service is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), in the same way as our hourly home care service is. You can see full details of our registration and of CQC’s inspections of our business on CQC’s website. Offering a “fully managed” service means that we take full responsibility for all aspects of the care that you receive, and that the CQC will monitor and inspect us.
What happens when the live-in carer has a break?
Live-in carers are entitled to a 2-hour break (or equivalent) each day. Many clients are happy to be left for a couple of hours, but others need constant support in which case we provide a second, hourly, carer to cover those breaks. A client will typically have a team of two live-in carers who alternate on a two or three week rotation, and are therefore able to cover each other’s holidays and any other periods of absence. The service you receive will be consistent, and all will be taken care of for you.
