Lee Harrington - Franchise Owner
I have worked in retail for blue chip companies all of my working life. My retail career was rewarding as I had the opportunity to work in various roles, meet a diversity of people and help them achieve their career goals. Through this experience I learnt and gained a great understanding of how people are the most important part of any organisation. When I reached a point in my life when I wanted to make a career change and wanted a more meaningful career that made a positive difference in my community, I chose Home Instead. Home Instead holds the same values and beliefs that I have towards caring for individuals. I have an elderly father and have certain expectations as to what I want him to get out of life. Therefore, I am passionate in delivering the right level of service to each individual supported by my team to enable them to continue living comfortably and help our clients lead rewarding lives.
Bal and I have been married for 17 years, live in Aylesbury and have three wonderful children. Bal and I believe that giving time develops foundations for great things and empowers individuals to want to do their best and be the best they can be. With time, there is space for patience which enables someone to feel cared for and appreciated, as well as to have the opportunity to get to know another and have conversation. These small steps lead to deeper connections, whether that be through the sharing of memories, a smile or an understanding that permits humour. However, the relationship develops, respect and dignity remain central to it.
In today’s time deficient world, it can be a challenge to give the time we would like to, and this leads to seeking support from others who have similar beliefs and values. When it’s your loved one, whatever you do will be fuelled by emotion and your desire to want to do the best. Your decisions will always be measured against your sense of responsibility…which is often unmeasurable, and your need to do more can sometimes be overwhelming.
My personal challenges have highlighted to me how intrinsic it is to finding the right person to best support your loved ones and as an extension of the way your loved ones are treated, the impact on the family can be very positive and sometimes a relief, enabling you to see to other responsibilities and commitments with a feeling of being in control.
Bal and I are actively involved in our local community and really making a difference to people’s lives through various initiatives. Whether that’s supporting young people to take their first steps in the work place, helping adults back into work after a setback or creating opportunities for the vulnerable in our community to get together and have a little fun. Please feel free to give me a call if there is anything me and my team can help you with, or even if just for a chat to think things through.
