Great Coffee Shops to visit when you are out and about in Aylesbury and Thame

Keeping older adults occupied and connected to the outside world is essential for their mental health and emotional well-being.

As simple as it sounds, choosing to go to a coffee shop is a brilliant way to bring a smile to their face, and also an opportunity for them to stay in touch with the local community. Coffee shops provide a safe and welcoming environment, which will also maintain your social life.

We highly recommend the next few locations showcasing their delicious food and welcoming atmosphere.

The Coffee Tree – Aylesbury

An example of great things that come in small packages. The Coffee Tree is a little gem serving tasty cooked meals and snacks (prepared to order) as well as delicious homemade cakes and drinks. The coffee shop opened its doors at the end of March 2022, owned and managed by Rebecca and Michael. They pride themselves in offering a healthy and fresh selection of food whether you eat in or order your food for take away.

Have you thought about treating your loved ones to a freshly made “All Day Breakfast”? Would you prefer crispy bacon or grilled to perfection? Poached or fried eggs? Chef Michael will go the extra mile to deliver plates full of personality and a personal touch. You can choose from tasty sandwiches to jacket potatoes, vegetarian dishes to flavoursome homemade soup. Are you having a party or want to treat someone to a special afternoon tea, The Coffee Tree can also provide bespoke finger buffets and afternoon teas for collection.

Their service is second to none but the quality of their food locally sourced, collaborating with butchers PS Tilbury in Bedgrove and eggs delivered from Dinton Farm to maximise the quality and taste.

The Coffee Tree is a community hub where people can meet their family, friends, and colleagues to relax, catch up and enjoy the amazing food and drink on offer.

Treacles Tea Rooms Thame

Treacles Tea Rooms is something much more than a traditional coffee shop, it’s a community. This amazing place opened its doors 7 years ago by the experienced chefs Dave and Rowland. Treacles is set in a period building over two floors, combining a relaxed and welcoming environment with a log burner lit through the winter months. The staff provides a welcoming, fun, knowledgeable, and safe atmosphere.

Their dishes are a clever mix of traditional meals as well as those that are more current or easy on the go. From a traditional English breakfast to smashed avocado brunch, bacon & avocado panini to their famous butchers’ pie of the day just to name a few. Of course not forgetting their various vegan menus offering their much spoken about vegan breakfast or houmous, black olive, red pepper and rocket toastie. Enjoy their specialty teas or a cup of barista coffee with a slice (or two) of delicious cake. This is another local café collaborating with local butchers’ Wrens.

You can find Treacles on 12 High Street, OX9 2BZ. Operating times: Mon-Sat from 9 am to 5 pm. The coffee shop is accessible for wheelchair users.

For those of you that are enjoying the walks around Haddenham or even passing by and fancy a spot of lunch they offer light bites including ham, egg and chips, salad pots, and paninis. If you prefer a drink and something sweet there are plenty of cakes on offer all beautifully made by Jess. Tickety Brew also offers outdoor seating for those days when the weather is suitable.

Just The Crust Aylesbury

Having only opened in May 2022, Just the Crust’s core concept is to establish a place the community needs, a place where local residents can come together and spend quality time while enjoying freshly made food and drink that is reasonably priced.

The menu offers sandwiches with classic fillings from cheese, ham, egg mayo, and coronation chicken to corned beef, cheese, spring onion, tuna, and many more. If you are looking for something warm why not try a toasted tea cake, bacon or sausage bap, pasties, toastie, panini, or one of their jacket potatoes with a tasty filling of baked beans, chilli con carne, and more. Don’t miss the freshly baked bread too.

Paula and her team will ensure your experience is enjoyable and memorable. There is an onsite car park and a large outside sitting area for sunshine lovers. Accessible for wheelchair users.

The Coffee House Thame

This independent unique historical building in the heart of Thame was opened by Jim and Patrick in 2015.  Their main motivation and drive was to establish a place where everyone from the community feels welcome and can get together for a delicious cooked breakfast, homemade cakes, or a hot drink. Grab a cup of tea after a winter walk by the fireplace or enjoy a delicious lunch in the garden during the warm summer days.

The menu offers a traditional English breakfast, omelettes, light plate dishes such as sausage and mash as well as a selection of sandwiches. Traditional meals such as lasagne, curry, and pies are also available along with some sweet treats including homemade cakes.

The Coffee House welcomes it’s visitors to their warm and friendly environment. It is fully wheelchair accessible.
