Tai Chi at Fairford Leys Community Centre

Tai Chi classes for Over 50’s started in January 2023 at Fairford Leys Community centre thanks to AITC Active in the Community. Tai Chi is a gentle martial art focused on strength, flexibility, healing, and mindfulness. It is beneficial for both physical and mental health and it’s suitable for all ages. It encourages slow body movement followed by deep breathing. Classes are every Monday from 11 am to 12 pm. The sessions are adapted to the individual’s fitness level, rest assured you don’t have to execute any exercises you don’t feel comfortable with.

Find Fairford Leys Community Centre at Hampden Square, Aylesbury, HP19 7HT. The Centre is accessible for wheelchair users, specious car park with designated car parking spaces.

Over 50’s Badminton Club Aylesbury

Meet new friends and enjoy a great time while keeping fit. Over 50’s Badminton Club sessions are every Monday and Thursday afternoon, from 1 pm until 5 pm at Quarrenden and Meadowcroft Community Centre. The fee is £3.50 and £3.00 for individuals over 75’s. The club provides a warm atmosphere and they are looking forward to welcoming new members. Some experience is necessary. There are Short Tennis sessions every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month between 1 pm – 5 pm.

Haddenham Village Hall

Located in Haddenham, Aylesbury, Haddenham Village Hall offers a variety of classes regardless of your fitness level and age.

Jazzercise is a dance class, based on music. It concentrates on cardio and strength building following choreographed routines. The class is suitable for all ages and you can choose between high or low-impact options as well as floor or standing options. Improve your balance, core strength, and coordination with a gentler class on Thursday mornings, starting at 10:45 am.

Yoga Annie is an “Accessible Yoga for Over 60’s” class. Support your mental and physical health by utilizing the mind-breath-body technique. Body practice strengthens the body and improves balance and mobility, while breath practice supports the nervous system, and meditation reduces stress levels.

Phoenix Freedom Pilates provides personalised plans to help you achieve your goals. You can find a video where you will see a full Pilates chair-based class to practice at home as well.

U3A Movers are meeting every Friday morning at 10:00 am. Chair-based exercises are great for individuals with mobility issues. The main focus is working on fitness and posture while having the security of performing the exercises on a chair. The class lasts one hour and goes along with light music to ensure that you are getting fit while having a lot of fun.

Thame Barns Centre

The building is accessible for wheelchair users. There are different groups and activities for all ages and most classes are run independently.

50’s Plus Pilates Workout is run by Lee Caulfield every Monday from 12 pm to 1 pm. This class focuses on general body awareness and will help improve core strength and flexibility. It is suitable for individuals with back and joint pain, mobility issues, and reduced balance control.

Keep Fit For Seniors run two friendly groups for both ladies and gents. They meet every Monday during term time. Ladies Keep Fit is usually busier so it is advisable that you contact Sylvia to book your session. The workout duration is 45 minutes, starting with warmup and continuing with gentle stretches for all muscle groups. Classes run from 4:45 pm to 5:45 pm. To book Men’s Keep Fit, contact Stuart. The session is one hour from 5:45 pm to 6:45 pm.

Village Hall Longwick

Another amazing Senior Ladies Pilates Class is focused on balance, core strength, and improving rounding in the upper back and is taught by Rachel Changer.

Rachel is a Charted Physiotherapist and APPI Pilates Instructor.

The Yoga Factory Leighton Buzzard

Chair Yoga Classes are on every Tuesday morning from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Sacred Heart Church Hall, Leighton Buzzard.

Chair Yoga is suitable for everyone, regardless of age and fitness level. It’s a gentle form of yoga that allows people to improve their balance and posture.
