A milestone in care

Lesley, one of our live in carers took her client living with dementia on an outing to Milestones living history museum

Lesley Sackville Scott is one of Home Instead’s exceptional live in carers who took her client, John on a wonderful outing to the brilliant Milestones living history museum in Basingstoke.

John, who lives in Camberley, has dementia and Lesley believed stepping back in time would have a therapeutic effect, Lesley commented “He’s a dear client and his dementia is severe, but he really enjoyed the outing and visit to Milestones, happily talking about the exhibitions the street scenes depicting times gone by”.

Home Instead provide a very personal level of care be it home help, personal care, Dementia care to live in care. Lesley took John out in her own car but for clients with mobility challenges, Home Instead have a wheelchair accessible vehicle to help clients get out and about. Lesley says, “working for Home Instead is hugely rewarding especially when taking clients out” She added, “you do not have to stay on the sofa all day!”

There are very few live in carers that have access to a vehicle suitable for transporting clients, this means Home Instead offer a next level service that truly gives clients the opportunity to live well in their own home in Northeast Hampshire and around the Surrey and Berkshire boarders.
Milestones is Hampshire’s museum of living history where you can explore streets, shops and buildings to discover how people used to live, buy a ration of sweets from the 1940s sweet shop, view the unique collection of vintage vehicles and have a go in a penny arcade.
