Arts Together - Ageing Creatively

Are you looking for a senior friendly, creative outlet and Dementia friendly community? Then Arts Together run fun weekly art classes throughout the year.

Arts Together - Ageing Creatively

Arts Together run regular art groups for older people in Pewsey, Marlborough, Devizes, Melksham, Trowbridge and Bradford on Avon.

Offering a creative outlet for the over 60’s in a supportive and friendly environment, these weekly classes are run by professional artists to help you create works of art to inspire you, connect with others and build your own portfolio of work. A freshly cooked lunch is made after each class and transport isprovided, if needed, for those who live within the catchment area for each group.

Being creative in a community setting of like-minded people can really help to improve cognitive function in practicing new skills, feelings of fulfilment and togetherness to combat depression, not to mention the joy and fun of being creative. The Arts Together Group is supported by volunteers and care professionals to encourage an inclusive, supportive and comfortable environment.

The Arts Together group manager will be happy to discuss your needs prior to booking and confirm if the group feels like a good fit for you.

Our Care Professionals along with other volunteers are on hand to help during Arts Together classes, heres what they had to say about their classes.

‘Arts together is a wonderful charity that enables the elderly to get out of the house, helping to prevent loneliness. The clients receive a wholesome hot meal, which I feel is very important. They also have a jolly good laugh! The volunteers are kind and they care a lot about the clients wellbeing.’

‘It is a real pleasure to support Arts Together in Pewsey. I’ve been impressed with the format offering an artist led five week project each term. Of the projects I’ve seen so far, they have been varied and engaging. They are always suitable for a range of creative and physical abilities and the Arts Together volunteers are on hand to support and encourage the members.

A relaxed friendly group setting means that the members can socialise with each other as they work, and I have seen first-hand how some quieter members really come out of themselves with a little encouragement.

Not only do they run these quality art sessions, but they also provide safe, wheelchair friendly transport to and from the venue, with coffee and biscuits on arrival and a nutritious lunch before going home!

I think it’s great that Home Instead supports such a worthwhile charity by providing a Care Professional at each class. Just being a friendly face, willing to jump in and help where needed and support any members with additional needs is a huge help to the other volunteers and reassuring for the members that there is someone on hand.

I have two elderly friends who attend the Marlborough classes and they really enjoy themselves.’
