Spotlighting Walk for Health in Trafford, Altrincham & Sale: a volunteer-run organisation with Walking for Health, Trafford CCG, Public Health Trafford, and Sale Sports Club.

We are thrilled to highlight Walk for Health in Trafford, a fantastic local initiative that is ideal for our senior community. This wonderful programme is open to everyone, regardless of health status, size, shape, or age, and is organised by dedicated local volunteers in collaboration with Walking for Health, Trafford CCG, Public Health Trafford, and Sale Sports Club.

Walk for Health – Trafford is a local volunteer-led organisation that works in collaboration with Walking for Health, Trafford CCG, Public Health Trafford, and Sale Sports Club. The goal of Walk for Health is to promote health and well-being through walking. The 45-90-minute walks are ideal for those just starting out on their walking journey or looking to improve their fitness.

These walks provide more than just exercise; they provide an opportunity to meet new people and explore the beautiful open spaces in our community. Furthermore, each walk is led by a trained Walk Leader who takes into account individual needs, ensuring the support and safety of all participants making it perfect for anyone receiving home care in Sale or Altrincham.

Here’s a quick guide to the walking schedule:

  • John Leigh Park (at the Bowling Hut): WA14 4DX, Every Monday – meet at 10:15 am.
  • Broadheath Community Hall: Every Tuesday – meet at 10:00 am.
  • Mersey Valley Sports Club, Sale West: Every Friday – meet at 10:00 am.
  • Woodheys Park (Bodmin Road and Firsway at The Bowls Pavilion): M33 4LP, Every Wednesday – meet at 10:15 am.
  • Walton Park (at The Bowls Pavilion): M33 4AT, Every Thursday – meet at 10:15 am.
  • Sale Sports Club, Clarendon Crescent: M33 2DE, Every Friday – meet at 09:45 am.

These walks are promoted by local GP surgeries, but anyone can participate: you don’t have to have a specific health problem, and you don’t have to be a certain size, shape, or age!

Wellbeing walks range from 45-90 mins and are suitable for those wishing to start walking, or those wanting to improve their fitness, meet new people and discover open spaces in their local area. All walks are led by a trained Walk Leader, who will discuss any individual needs at the start of the walk and plan support as necessary.
