Meet Norah

Norah has been a member of our amazing Care Pro team since 2018 and throughout that time has made a big difference to the lives of the clients she regularly cares for.

What led you to become a Care Professional with Home Instead?
I have not always worked in care. Most of my working life has been in the civil service or local government. During this time, I cared for my mother and two elderly uncles in their latter days and when I retired from local government some 20 years or so ago, I became involved in care work.
In 2018, my husband and I re-located to Hale to be near our family and help look after my grandchildren. I applied for a position with Home Instead because the nature of the work undertaken complemented my experience and the working hours were flexible.

What do you value most about being a Care Professional?
I love being a Care Professional for the job satisfaction it provides. The feeling I that have helped someone and made their life less painful or uncomfortable.

Do you feel the role offers you a good work-life balance?
Very much so.

Do the office team work with your availability?
Always.

Can you share a favourite moment?
I don’t have one in particular but in general, I love helping clients to feel good about themselves and encouraging them to chat about what is interesting to them.

Has working with Home Instead met your expectations?
What I think is great about Home Instead is that everything is joined up and there is a great amount of respect shown between colleagues and clients and that’s what makes it special. The ongoing training and communication are excellent. I feel comfortable that support is only ever one phone call all away.

What qualities would say a Care Professional should have?
As well as being professional and able to adapt to changing circumstances, being kind, honest, hard-working, attentive, reliable and supportive.
