Discover our free Living Well with Dementia Open Day in Sale. Connect with local experts, groups & support for families. Early help makes all the difference.
At some point, many of us will be touched by dementia — whether it’s a partner, parent, neighbour, or ourselves. But it’s not something anyone should face alone. That’s why the Greater Manchester Fire Rescue Service, along with local community groups and dementia specialists, are proud to invite you to our upcoming Living Well with Dementia Open Day at Sale Community Fire Station.
After the amazing success of our Altrincham event, we’re thrilled to bring this special day to Sale, offering families, carers, and individuals a chance to connect, learn, and feel supported.
Dementia is often described as a journey — one that can span many years and bring challenges, changes, and moments of uncertainty. But with the right support, information, and community connections, families can feel less isolated and more confident about what lies ahead.
Early intervention can make a huge difference.
It’s not just about medical care or diagnosis — it’s about:
💜 Knowing where to turn for advice
💜 Finding out what’s available locally, from one-to-one support to peer groups
💜 Discovering practical tips for everyday life
💜 Accessing respite and activities that give you time to rest and recharge
So many people don’t realise the wealth of services and groups ready to help — from local charities to support groups, carers’ cafés, memory clinics, and specialist advisors. Events like this Open Day can open those doors for you.
Whether you’re newly diagnosed, supporting a loved one, or simply want to understand more, you’ll find:
✅ A welcoming marketplace with over 20 local support groups, charities, and dementia specialists
✅ Expert talks covering diagnosis, support, and living well
✅ Practical demos like fire safety at home and how to keep loved ones safe
✅ Relaxed entertainment with music, games, prizes and photo opportunities with real fire engines!
✅ Covered areas, plenty of seating, and refreshments, so you can take a break and chat
✅ Fully accessible spaces for everyone
Most importantly, you’ll meet people who understand — and you might discover a new group, idea, or bit of advice that makes daily life just that little bit easier.
It’s never too soon to reach out, learn more, and make a plan. No question is too small.
Events like these remind us that our community cares and that no one has to navigate dementia alone.
We’d love to see you there — bring a friend, family member, or neighbour who might benefit too.
