Home Instead Wrexham and Flintshire is excited to host the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus at Wrexham Wellbeing Hub on Wednesday 8th October 2025 as part of our Older Adults Wellbeing Roadshow. This unique event provides a powerful opportunity to experience first-hand what it’s like to live with dementia.

A Virtual Experience of Living with Dementia

The Virtual Dementia Tour Bus is equipped with state-of-the-art audio and visual technology that simulates the sensory challenges faced by those living with dementia. Participants will be guided through everyday tasks while experiencing distorted vision and hearing, offering an immersive and scientifically-backed experience that highlights the difficulties faced by those with dementia.

The goal of the event is to foster a deeper understanding of the reality of living with dementia, and to encourage empathy for the challenges faced by loved ones and caregivers alike.

Home Instead’s Commitment to Dementia Care

Home Instead Wrexham & Flintshire offers professional, compassionate home care services, enabling people to live well in the comfort of their own homes. We run regular Dementia Friends information sessions and our Care Professionals receive City and Guilds accredited dementia training, equipping them with the skills to support clients living with dementia and their families.

We are committed to improving understanding of dementia, and the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus is a key part of our mission to ensure our team and other professionals in the community can gain invaluable insights into the daily challenges of those living with dementia.

An Eye-Opening Experience

The Virtual Dementia Tour Bus provides a rare and impactful opportunity for employees, carers, and professionals in the community to experience the world of dementia in a personal and meaningful way. This level of training, which allows participants to truly walk in someone else’s shoes, is something we are proud to offer as part of our Wellbeing Roadshow.

Our hope is that by encouraging greater empathy and understanding through this experience, we can increase support and improve the lives of those living with dementia, as well as their families.

Supporting Our Local Community

At Home Instead Wrexham and Flintshire, we are deeply committed to supporting the local communities of Wrexham, Flintshire, and beyond. As part of a globally recognised care brand, we remain proudly local in our approach. We host a variety of social, wellness, and educational events to engage with the community and raise awareness about dementia care.

Our Older Adults Wellbeing Roadshow is an annual event where we bring together a variety of health and wellbeing organisations from our local area to offer free information and advice about ageing well.  We look forward to seeing you at our next event on Wednesday 8th October.

We also organise free dementia friendly groups in the area, such as Singing for the Brain, where people can meet, chat, and connect with others. We also support initiatives such as Dementia Friendly Communities, and work closely with local organisations and charities to combat social isolation. Our What’s On Where Guide provides a comprehensive list of community events and can be picked up from our office in Gresford or from our partner locations.
