When people think of home care, they often picture the practical side: helping with meals, sorting out medication, making sure zips and buttons aren’t a battle in the morning.
But care at home is something so much more. For us at Home Instead Wimbledon and Kingston, it means helping people rediscover confidence, rebuild routines, and reconnect with the things, the community and the people they love.
In 2025, our teams across Wimbledon and Kingston delivered over 150,000 hours of care. Behind every one of those hours there is a team of Care Professionals, schedulers, and office staff who make it all possible. In October alone, we had over 150 local people working with us. That’s 150 people supporting local families, coordinating care plans, answering calls, and checking in on clients.
We’re proud to be a local employer in Wimbledon and Kingston, and even prouder of the community we’ve helped nurture.

For many of our clients, being able to return to their community after a spell of illness, or while navigating loss of mobility is central to their overall wellbeing. Take Frederick, one of our clients. He lost his confidence after a recent illness and had to step back from his beloved bridge club. But with the steady encouragement of his Care Professional and a new routine, he made it back. Now, he rarely misses a game. Frederick’s Joie de vivre has returned, he’s overall health and cognitive function has improved and he’s in a really good routine.
Then there’s Pauline. Once an avid knitter, she’d packed away her wool. However, with her Care Pro and families support, she’s now back making blankets for her extended family. The joy and sense of accomplishment of completing a little cardi for her great-grandchild has bought her and her family such a boost. It’s important to remember, these aren’t just activities, they’re signs of life being lived well and moments big and small being celebrated.
This year, we’ve also seen the power of connection after loss. Several of our clients who’ve experienced bereavement have found their way back to companionship, thanks to local friendship and bereavement support groups. With encouragement from our teams, they’ve walked into rooms filled with people who understand what they’re going through and walked out feeling just a little less alone.

Throughout 2025, we’ve seen the power of community connection again and again. That’s why in 2026, we want to facilitate it even more. Whether you, or a loved one are looking to find the nearest knitting circle, bridge club, companionship café, or even need help tracking down a great local solicitor or financial advisor, we’ve created something just for you.
Our Community Companion newsletter is a free, one-stop-shop for everything happening in Wimbledon and Kingston.
From fitness classes and support groups to news, local recommendations and events, it’s the easiest way to stay in the know and feel more connected.

Home care isn’t the end, it’s a new chapter. One that still includes friendships, birthdays, tea in the garden, and dancing in the kitchen (yes, even on a Monday morning).
We believe that life is to be celebrated, at every stage.
And if we can help make that celebration a little easier, brighter, or more connected, then we’re doing what we set out to do.
