Home Instead Wigan are proud to celebrate the success of their annual Be a Santa campaign, which brought together local businesses, community groups, volunteers, and members of the public to support older adults and those receiving end-of-life care across the borough this Christmas at Wigan & Leigh Hospice.

The campaign saw an exceptional response from the local community, with numerous organisations acting as collection points, donating gifts on behalf of their businesses, and helping raise awareness across social media, as well as generous donations from the public. As a result, a significant number of hampers were collected, wrapped, and prepared for delivery.

Supporting Wigan & Leigh Hospice

This year, Home Instead Wigan selected Wigan & Leigh Hospice as the primary beneficiary of the Be a Santa campaign. The hospice plays a vital role in providing compassionate end-of-life care and support to individuals and families across the region, particularly during the Christmas period.

Thanks to the generosity of the community, Home Instead Wigan were able to donate a large volume of gifts in the form of hampers to the hospice, ensuring patients feel comforted, remembered, and supported during the festive season.

The hampers were distributed to the hospice via vans, with Home Instead Wigan’s Care Manager, Louise Andrews, and Community Engagement Officer, Catherine Broadbent, personally delivering them to the premises.

Emily Morris, the Community Fundraiser for Wigan & Leigh Hospice, said,
“A huge thank you to Home Instead Wigan for all the kind donations. Our patients and families will be delighted to receive an unexpected Christmas gift during the most difficult time. We really appreciate all your kindness! Merry Christmas everyone!”
