Choosing the right care option can feel overwhelming, and so can starting the conversation about care, but with Home Instead you don’t have to go through this journey alone. By giving you as much information as you need and allowing you to spend time talking about your loved one’s needs, we try to make this conversation as easy as possible. We understand that each persons needs are unique so it is important to choose what is right for them. Home care allows your loved one to receive expert care in the comfort of their own home. At Home Instead we offer a range of tailored services that are designed to support your loved one whatever the situation.
If you’re starting to notice changes in your loved one whether that be in their daily routine, their eating habits or mobility, knowing how to start this conversation will help you find the right support for them. Home Instead have launched a free ‘Spot the Signs’ checklist which families can use to assess how their loved one is doing. It covers everything from mobility and memory to eating habits, changes in hygiene and mood.
Cath Hale, General Manager of Home Instead Wetherby, North Leeds & Horsforth said: “We strongly encourage people to have a conversation about care earlier so that it doesn’t reach a crisis point when perhaps mum or dad has a fall and has to go into hospital. If you address any issues earlier, it can help your loved one to stay at home for longer, a place where they can feel content with their cherished memories and possessions.”
Our Care Professionals are trained to look out for signs of changes in their clients and can help ensure medication is taken regularly, notice changes to mobility that may lead to falls and suggest equipment to reduce these risks, make sure their clients are eating well, assist with personal hygiene and so much more. Even just a handful of hours per week may help to hold off the need for much more intrusive care, and can gently introduce the idea of having a regular visitor to help out where needed.
We carefully match each of our Care Professionals to our clients based on their interests, personalities and the clients needs. At Home Instead we believe that our matching process leads to a higher quality of care for the client. Good matching ensures that the Care Professional team has the right skills and experience to meet the client’s specific needs, leading to more effective and personalised care. As your loved ones journey progresses with Home Instead we make sure to keep their continuity of care consistent so they continue building meaningful relationships with their Care Professionals.
We provide free assessments in your home that are available to book in with our team, there is no obligation but it gives you a great opportunity to have an informal chat with a member of our care team.
Home Instead Wetherby, North Leeds & Horsforth have now launched their ‘Ageing Well Drop In’ which is open to anyone with questions about care options, dementia support, funding, or if you just need some friendly guidance.
