On Saturday 20th July we put on a big summer extravaganza at our local community centre to raise money for our charity of the year, Weston Hospicecare. With the help of local celebrity and friend of Home Instead, Wezley Webber, the stage was set for a great event!
We encouraged members of the community to come along for a couple of hours of afternoon entertainment; with tables of jumble to rummage through, a fabulous raffle of prizes donated from local businesses, a homemade cream tea refreshment, and to watch on as the amazing Wezley Webber hosted a Summer Fashion Show with models showing beautiful summer clothing that was also available to purchase.
We had a tonne of pre-loved clothes and jumble to sell, kindly donated by our amazing Care Pros, Office Team and members of the public. Everyone really rallied together to find lovely items for us to sell. The event had a busy start, with people queuing up to get in and bag the best bits of jumble! Our homemade cream teas went down a treat too, people were really impressed. Those who stayed for the fashion show were very enthusiastic in supporting our fabulous models. Jenny, Nikki, Richard, Ami, Alyson, Katie and Louise (Home Instead Office Team and Care Pros) did an amazing job walking the catwalk to showcase summer outfits from Weston Hospicecare’s charity shop. Modelling 2 – 3 outfits each, they came on stage to strut their stuff, then quickly change for their next appearance. This was all perfectly coordinated by the amazing Wezley Webber who introduced each outfit and talked the audience through the brands, style and prices. Clothes worn in the fashion show were then placed on a rail for sale at the end, with quite a few pieces being sold!
On the day, we managed to raise an impressive £481, which we were really pleased with. We would like to thank everyone that came along and supported the event. We would also like to thank our team members and friends who volunteered to help on the day: Lyn, Sarah, Luisa, Hannah, Natalie, Gloria and Stephanie. We couldn’t have done it without you! And of course, a huge thank you to Wezley Webber for kindly helping us out with this event, it’s always so nice working with you and thank you for continuously supporting us!
Finally, thank you to the wonderful businesses on Worle High Street who donated prizes for our raffle, your contributions made a huge difference on the day and the raffle was a big hit! Thank you to: Worle Family Shop, Muffins Tea Rooms & Restaurant, Mr Beans Café, Fairsave, Sweets ‘n’ Things, Mayfair Estate Agents, Bloxham and Barlow and The Worle Lions.
