Introducing “Edwin’s Chair” A Gift That Helps Us Lift with Care.
Home Instead Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon & Burnham-on-Sea receives life-changing Raizer Chair thanks to generous donation from former client.
When older individuals are living alone, access to the right support can make a huge difference, and thanks to the generosity of one very special man, Home Instead now has a powerful new tool to help support clients when they need it most.
The team at Home Instead are proud to announce the arrival of a Raizer Chair, a state-of-the-art mobile lifting device that allows a person who has fallen to be gently and safely raised to a sitting or standing position. This vital equipment, which can be operated by a single caregiver, significantly reduces the risk of injury for both clients and staff and preserves dignity in moments that can otherwise feel distressing. The chair also provides relief for the emergency services, who often can struggle to attend a fall quickly due to high demand of their service.
What makes this news even more meaningful is how the chair was funded. The Raizer Chair was purchased through a generous donation left by a former client, Edwin Webb, whose kindness and warmth touched everyone who had the privilege of supporting him.
In recognition of his legacy and the positive impact his gift will have on others, Home Instead has chosen to name the new device “Edwin’s Chair.”
“Edwin was such a lovely man. We were privileged to provide care and support services to him for many years. He was kind and caring and really enjoyed the visits from his team of Care Professionals. After his passing we were very surprised to learn he had requested to leave the company and his carers a gift, which shows what a thoughtful and generous person he was.” said a Home Instead spokesperson. “It feels only right that this piece of equipment, which will help so many people, should carry his name.”
Unlike traditional lifting methods, which often require multiple people and can be physically demanding, the Raizer Chair can be quickly assembled around a person who has fallen and gently lifts them using a motorised system. It’s portable, battery operated and can be used in a variety of care settings; from private homes to care facilities, and even outside if a client has fallen in their garden.
Falls are one of the most common and challenging issues faced by older adults, and having access to the right equipment and providing support in a timely manner can make all the difference, avoiding further complications and possible hospital admissions.
As the team puts the Raizer Chair into use, they know that Edwin’s legacy will live on in every lift and every moment of relief it provides. “Thank you, Edwin.”
