Be A Santa 2025 – Our Biggest Year Yet Supporting Older People in West Lothian

Home Instead West Lothian's annual 'Be A Santa' Christmas campaign helped spread festive cheer to over 500 isolated elderly people in 2025.

Once again, the West Lothian community has shown incredible generosity through our “Be A Santa” To A Senior campaign, helping us bring festive cheer to older people who may otherwise have felt forgotten at Christmas.

Building on the success of previous years, Be A Santa 2025 has been our biggest and most impactful campaign to date, and we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who supported it.

Supporting Over 500 Older People This Christmas

Thanks to the kindness of our local community and partner organisations, we were able to support 533 older people across West Lothian this festive season.

With over 1,000 gifts donated, many recipients received two or more presents, ensuring they felt truly remembered and valued at Christmas time. From cosy essentials to thoughtful treats, each gift carried a powerful message: you are not alone.

For many older people, especially those living alone or facing isolation, these small acts of kindness can make a huge difference.

Six Years of Be a Santa – Making a Lasting Local Impact

Launched in 2020, Be a Santa has now reached its sixth year, growing each Christmas thanks to the continued support of our local community, partners and team members.

With the incredible generosity shown during the 2025 campaign, the total number of gifts donated since Be a Santa began has now passed 2,200 gifts, all given to older people in West Lothian who may be isolated or in need of extra support.

What started as a small local initiative has become a meaningful annual tradition, helping to ensure that hundreds of older people feel remembered, valued and connected during the festive season – year after year.

Our 2025 Collection Points

We were delighted to once again see so many local businesses support the campaign by acting as gift collection points. This year, donations were collected at:

We are incredibly thankful to these businesses for opening their doors and encouraging their customers and teams to get involved.

Special Thanks to JBT Marel

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the team at JBT Marel, who once again made a very generous donation to the Be a Santa campaign. Their support played a vital role in helping us reach so many older people for another year.

Thanking Our Home Instead West Lothian Team

Behind the scenes, this campaign simply would not be possible without the dedication and kindness of our own Home Instead West Lothian team.

Many team members generously gave up their time to support Be a Santa – whether that meant wrapping gifts, collecting donations from our drop-off points, organising supplies, or helping deliver presents to community partners and recipients.

Their willingness to go above and beyond, often alongside their regular roles, truly reflects the compassion and values at the heart of Home Instead. We are incredibly proud of every team member who played a part in making Christmas brighter for so many older people across West Lothian.

A Word from Our Owner

Reflecting on this year’s campaign, Graham Stevenson, Owner of Home Instead West Lothian, said:

“Be a Santa has become an important part of what we do each year at Home Instead West Lothian. The generosity shown by our local community, our business partners, and our own team members is truly humbling.

Every gift represents someone taking the time to care, and that makes a real difference to older people across West Lothian who may otherwise feel isolated at Christmas. I want to personally thank everyone who got involved and helped make this year’s campaign our biggest yet.”

Working Together with Local Organisations

As always, partnership working was at the heart of Be a Santa 2025. We worked closely with a wide range of local organisations to identify those most in need and to help distribute the gifts safely and thoughtfully.

Our sincere thanks go to:

Without the dedication and local knowledge of these organisations, reaching so many people would not have been possible.
