Are you concerned about a loved one's memory? Feeling stuck about how to help? You're not alone – and we're here to help.
With nearly a million people now living with dementia in the UK, the chances are that this condition has touched your life in some way. Whether you’re noticing changes in a loved one or you simply want to be better prepared to support others in your community, our upcoming workshops will offer you the knowledge- and confidence-boost you need.
Recent data from Home Instead’s ‘New Ageing Index’ (here) reveals a stark reality: 84% of people believe more should be done to educate families about living with dementia. Even more telling, 58% feel the Government should declare dementia a health emergency.
At Home Instead Watford, we see this reality every day. With approximately 50% of our clients living with some form of dementia, we have a deep understanding of the impact it has on families and those affected. We know that getting a diagnosis can feel daunting, and that families often feel “stuck” when a loved one is showing signs of the condition.
That’s why we’re taking action.
We’re pledging to arm 1,000 people across Watford with dementia awareness and the practical know-how to support people living with the condition. These aren’t just information sessions – they’re empowerment workshops designed to give you the tools and confidence to make a real difference.

Real Experience Combined with Expert Knowledge: We combine Home Instead’s deep, real-world understanding (gained from supporting hundreds of clients with dementia) with insights from medical and nutritional experts, providing actionable “know-how” rather than just information.
Local Support for Local People: This is a proactive initiative from your local Home Instead Watford to tackle what many consider a “health emergency” at a grassroots level, offering accessible support directly within the Watford community.
Dementia shouldn’t be a taboo subject anymore. We need to educate people and encourage open dialogue about how we support those affected. The ‘New Ageing Index’ points that 83% of people believe that having better dementia treatment options at home would dramatically improve their lives – and that support starts with understanding.
Whether you’re dealing with concerns about a loved one right now, or you want to be prepared for the future, these workshops will give you the knowledge and confidence to make a meaningful difference.
