The Butterfly Café is Growing

The Butterfly Café is growing slowly with the support of SLaM professionals and Kings College Hospital Volunteers.

Individuals have engaged in a range of Dementia Friendly activities including, music and art (clay modelling, lavender bags, flower arranging) therapy, seated exercise, bingo, and board games. Our Jubilee party on the 14th of June 2022, was a success, with sing-along Jubilee songs and a postcard for the Queen-art and craft activity. Please see the pictures attached

We are very excited to be opening a carers support hub on the 9th of August 2022. We aim to create a space where carers can have a range of support including informal chats, wellbeing talks, holistic therapy, signposting etc. This will mean that we would have two sessions going on at the same time. One that focuses on the needs of individuals with dementia and the other on the needs of their careers. The café will finish, with all coming together for an interactive activity (e.g., music therapy, performing arts session).

We will be taking a break in September and returning in October 2022, with two sessions a month.
