Behind Every Great Carer Is Great Training: Palliative Care Training with Royal Trinity Hospice

Some of the most important moments in care happen quietly. A gentle word, a steady hand, the confidence to know exactly what a family needs when they need it most. These moments don’t happen by chance. They happen because someone took the time to prepare for them.

That’s exactly why this week, nine of our care professionals sat down for a day of specialist Palliative Care Training, delivered by Helen Brewerton, a Trinity Nurse from Royal Trinity Hospice.

A Day Focused on What Matters Most

The session, titled “Overview of Palliative Care: Practical Essentials for Health and Social Care Staff,” was exactly what it promised to be.  Practical, honest, and deeply human. Helen brought years of hands-on hospice experience into the room, and it showed. Rather than talking in abstractions, she walked our team through the real, everyday realities of end-of-life care: how to communicate with compassion, how to recognise and respond to changing needs, and how to support not just the person receiving care, but the family around them too.

For our carers, it was a day of listening, asking questions, and learning from someone who has spent her career sitting with people during life’s most vulnerable moments.
