Day care at home with Home Instead Wakefield brings meaningful support and companionship to your loved one during daytime hours, helping them stay active, engaged and well cared for in familiar surroundings. Our Care Professionals spend quality time doing activities your loved one enjoys – reminiscence sessions, gentle exercises recommended by physiotherapists, preparing nutritious meals together, or simply having a proper conversation and a laugh. We can also take clients out to local spots they love across Ossett, Horbury and Crofton – perhaps a visit to Hampsons Plant World in Durkar or a coffee at one of Wakefield’s lovely cafes. Our day care in Wakefield is completely tailored to each person’s interests, abilities and care needs. Some clients benefit from reminiscence activities that bring comfort and connection, particularly those living with dementia, while others enjoy rehabilitative exercises that help rebuild strength after illness or injury. Each visit lasts at least an hour, giving proper time to engage meaningfully rather than rushing through a checklist. Our Care Professionals come from varied backgrounds and bring interesting conversations, shared hobbies and genuine warmth to every visit. We keep families informed through our care app about how the day has gone, what activities were enjoyed, and any observations about wellbeing or mood.
We offer two types of home care: hourly care, where we visit at set times, or live-in care, where a carer resides in the home. Both are overseen by our care management team and delivered by compassionate Care Professionals. Each care package is made up of a unique mix of services to meet your needs.

Peter R described on homecare.co.uk how “we look forward to seeing our carers weekly, they are cheerful and work well,” adding that “there is also a very good balance between work and rapport, which is pleasing as many weeks apart from shopping we only see each other.” C E valued how carers provide “valuable and friendly social contact” for her father, noting that he “enjoys chatting and joking with them.” That combination of practical support, companionship and genuine connection helps combat loneliness and keeps people engaged with life.
