Truro - the Cornish Capital

Truro, with its beautiful Cathedral, is not just Cornwall’s only city, but is also the Cornish capital.

Truro, with its beautiful Cathedral, is not just Cornwall’s only city, but is also the Cornish capital.  It is a great place to visit for both locals and holidaymakers with a varied selection of shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs. If you’d like a bit of culture, the recently-refurbished Hall For Cornwall has fantastic selection of events year round, and there is also the wonderful Royal Cornish Museum. By the river and perfect for a stroll, lies Boscawen Park, which has a café and a spectacular display of flower beds in the Spring and Summer, not to mention a large car park with a fantastic views back over the river towards the Cathedral. Truro is easily reached from the riverside village of Tresillian, as well as from the very well-served community of Carnon Downs and nearby Playing Place, both with local shops and Post Offices.  The beautiful St Feock village church is well worth a visit (and where Home Instead’s owner Tim, got married), and if you are looking for somewhere to eat or drink, then look no further than the The Royal Oak pub in Perranwell Station, where the owner’s Lizzie and Tim will provide you with a very warm welcome.  Speaking of Perranwell Station, if you are looking for a wonderful way of exploring the local Cornish roads in style, then Anthony and his team at Perranwell Garage will be delighted to rent you a Morgan, an MGB or even a Morris Minor. On the other side of Truro and the A30 and on the North Coast of Cornwall, lies the pretty seaside village of St Agnes and a few miles up the coast is well-served town of Perranporth, with its famous large and sandy beach and The Wateringhole pub – the UK’s only bar on the beach.
