Some of our wonderful CAREGivers, (our most important asset)
We hold regular update meetings with our CAREGivers and here are some of them at a recent information get together
Franchise Owner - Tony Ward
My wife Myrna and I are so pleased we became part of the Home Instead family and opened our Sutton Surrey office back in February 2010.
We are delighted to be celebrating the Company's 10th Anniversary at the beginning of February 2020. Where has the time gone? Fortunately we have been able to provide many hours of home based care enabling several hundred clients to stay in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes during the last ten years. One of the highlights of this year will hopefully be a lovely Tea Party we are planning for early Spring to share our celebrations with our clients and their families together with our wonderful CAREGivers.
We are really happy we have been able to support so many elderly people to remain independent and enjoy the comfortable, safe and familiar surroundings of their own homes during this time.
It is a source of great pride that we have developed a team of lovely CAREGivers who all go that extra mile to ensure our client's needs are met on a daily basis. They are encouraged, and are given the opportunity to develop meaningful relationships with their clients while carrying out the various care services we provide with companionship being the key ingredient.
As a pensioner myself I can identify with some of the problems and care issues our clients are facing and try to ensure our services are flexible enough to meet those later life dificulties.
When not acting as the Home Instead Sutton Director I really enjoy a wide range of sports, especially cricket, rugby and football, all in a watching capacity now unfortunately. The only sport I play these days is bowls but that keeps me very busy especially during the summer evenings and weekends. We are delighted to be a proud supporter of Carshalton Beeches Bowling Club as their ethos of family oriented social inclusion, combined with combatting loneliness and keeping active closely mirrors our own values.
My passion and past involvement in sport has led me to develop our "Sporting Memory Cafe" which we have run in association with Sutton United Football Club. I became aware how important remembering past glories (and disappointments) were when I started visiting former player get togethers at 3 of my past clubs. The conversations flowed and it surprised me to hear stories I had forgotten and I was able to recall other memories my team mates had forgotten. I believe that being able to reminisce in this way is an extremely useful method of helping people and their families who are living with the effects of short term memory loss. Hopefully by offering a facility where people can relax and share some of their sporting stories will help in some small way. We are having a Winter break at the moment but will resume these popular events when the weather gets a bit warmer.

Alison Legg Registered Care Manager
Alison can well and truly claim to have "risen through the ranks" having started as a CAREGiver in 2010, one of the first CAREGivers in the team in those early days of Home Instead Sutton. A proud moment in her career at Home Instead came in 2015 when she reached the Regional Final of the National CAREGiver of the year award. She then became a Senior Caregiver, before spending more time in office administration roles .A very short spell as Deputy Care Manager followed before being appointed Care Manager in May 2017.
In addition to going through all the extensive Home Instead training Alison has an NVQ in Health and Social Care and holds the QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services. She was awarded a City and Guilds Accredited Training Certificate in Dementia Care.
Before working with Home Instead Sutton, Alison spent a large part of her career working for a top, city based, accountancy firm in IT and IT Risk Management. She then spent a year or so renovating two Victorian houses and a short spell helping her partner in his building company (and is a dab hand at tiling!)
Alison lives very locally and enjoys walking her dogs, Rocket and Dill and going camping with them when she has a spare weekend.. Alison is passionate about providing the highest quality, tailor made, consistent and affordable care for people in their own homes. Her thoroughness and attention to detail have been key drivers in her rise to her current position and since her appointment she has seen the company move forward rapidly in terms of the bespoke care packages we provide to all our lovely clients.
Hayley Thompson Deputy Care Manager/Head of Training
Hayley has been with Home Instead Sutton since February 2013 and is another member of the office team who started as a CAREGiver and has been subsequently promoted to Senior CAREGiver. She has recently been promoted again and is now responsible for all training and HR functions as well as assisting Alison as her deputy. Ensuring our CAREGivers have the best possible working relationships with the company during their career with Home Instead Senior Care is Hayley's primary role.
She has a wealth of nursing and care experience during her earlier career and is passionate about providing the right level of care services for all our clients. Hayley is extermely proud of our CAREGiver's achievements and when out in the field on her support visits. She really enjoys seeing the interaction and relationships that have been built between client and CAREGivers. The increases in new CAREGiver confidence and the improvement in client wellbeing are particularly pleasing and satisfying for her to see.
Hayley has 4 children and has lived locally all her life. She is a pet lover and her family life and many friends are also very important to her. In rare quieter moments she enjoys nothing more than relaxing with a glass of wine and a good book.
Emma Cope Client Liaison Manager
Emma is a very welcome addition to the office team having joined us in November 2016 as a Scheduler/Care Co-ordinator.
She soon developed an excellent working relationship with the CAREGivers as well as the management team. In April 2018 Emma was promoted to her present role where she is responsible for assisting Alison, our Care Manager, to make the overall relationship between the office team and all our clients work as smoothly as possible.
The new role gives Emma the opportunity to meet the clients instead of just talking to them over the telephone and she draws a great deal of satisfaction in providing the reassurance to our client families that their loved ones are in good hands and will be well cared for.during their time as Home Instead clients.
Away from the office Emma enjoys watching various different sports, especially football, but also finds time to write short stories and poetry and is very interested in historical crimes. Visiting art galleries is another hobby she pursues when the opportunity presents itself.
Home life is also very important to Emma and she enjoys relaxing with her family whenever possible.
Charlotte Danielsen Care Co-ordinator
Charlotte joined Home Instead Sutton in September 2013 as a CAREGiver and was promoted to Senior CAREGiver in 2014. Her business and organisational skills were very obvious and in 2018 Charlotte joined the office full time as our Scheduler/Care Co-ordinator
She enjoys her current role at Home Instead especially when she is liaising with clients, their families and Caregivers. Her background in the fashion and beauty management industry clearly shows when dealing with fast paced and changing scheduling situations
Charlotte is originally from Denmark but has called UK her home for the last 28 years. She lives locally, is married and has 2 children.
Away from the office she enjoys reading and dress making.
Charlotte also loves travelling and often goes abroad, visiting family in Denmark as well as holiday destinations throughout Europe.
Sharon Woodlands - Training and HR Administrator
I joined Home Instead Senior Care in September 2011 after having office management and administration experience over a number of years. I was introduced to the company by a good friend who was already working as a CAREGiver at this office and was delighted to receive an opportunity to join the team. I was the Scheduler for the CAREGivers and clients until November 2016. I now work on a part time basis and enjoy my new role working closely with new and existing CAREGivers as a member of the CAREGiver Experience Team
When the situation arises I still enjoy talking to our clients and their families as I have always considered myself to be a caring person..I feel proud to be part of a team that provides quality care to our clients in their own homes and which, hopefully, makes a positive difference to their daily lives
.I am married with 3 adult sons, am a keen gardener, like to read, socialise and travel to Europe regularly.
Rocket and Dill Honorary Joy Bringers
Rocket and Dill are the beautiful pets of Care Manager Alison and have been regular and popular visitors to many of our clients over the years.
They have a happy knack of bringing a lot of pleasure to our clients they visit and are very valuable members of the care team!
