Discover how Home Instead enriches lives through companionship and activities that empower clients to maintain independence and engage with the local community.
Here at Home Instead Sutton Coldfield, we understand just how powerful companionship and community can be in supporting our clients to live well at home. We take great delight in spending time with our clients, and today at our blog we’d like to share some of the favourite things we enjoy doing together in and around Sutton Coldfield, Shenstone and Walsall.
An outing with a dedicated Home Instead Care Professional is often the highlight of the week for our clients, whether it’s a leisurely trip to the shops at Gracechurch Shopping Centre or on a sunnier day a stroll in the National Nature Reserve on our doorstep, Sutton Park. We find that these local excursions provide not just a breath of fresh air, but also a much needed sense of routine, normalcy and freedom.
We know that a cup of tea and a chat in a friendly environment can work wonders for the spirit, which is why you might often find our Care Professionals with clients at Communitea Cafe, located in Age Concern Birmingham in Boldmere. It’s accessible for those clients with mobility issues, and the perfect place to enjoy a cuppa and social interaction with others.
Part of maintaining a healthy mental outlook involves staying engaged with our hobbies and interests. Pacific Nurseries Garden Centre and Hall’s Garden Centre are favourite places to visit for our clients, especially those with green fingers. The Garden Room at Hall’s Garden Centre is another favourite spot for a light lunch or afternoon tea. Whether it’s marvelling at the colourful blooms or choosing new additions for a hanging basket, flower beds or some bulbs for a small pot in the garden at home, a visit to a garden centre can brighten up the day.
We pride ourselves on respecting and promoting the independence of our clients. Encouraging our clients to live well, comes in many forms, such as a walk to the local shop, attending a nostalgic music event at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall or choosing a delicious slice of cake at The Coffee Cup. Even a small step outside the home with the support of a Care Professional can contribute significantly to a sense of self-sufficiency and confidence.
The truth is, at Home Instead, we find joy in the companionship we bring to others. It’s about nurturing the bonds with our clients while helping them to maintain an active lifestyle and a connection to the community.
“On a Friday they take her to a friendship club, which my aunt loves, and on a Wednesday the carer will also take her to the hairdressers. My aunt always says how lovely the ladies are and it’s so nice to have their company.”
