Our aim was to complete a virtual walk to Buckingham Palace and back Home Instead St Helens to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer's Society. What a fantastic week!!
27 of us took part in the challenge and eagerly counted our steps! We ran, walked stepped and cycled to see what we could achieve – the miles mounted up and by the end of the day we had achieved 192 674 steps – an equivalent of 85.15 miles. We were well on our way and got as far as Birmingham
Every step counted – pottering around the house, at work or walking the dog!!
The steps and miles mounted day by day and more staff, family members and client family members joined the challenge.
By the end of Day 2 we had been as far as Buckingham Palace and were back home in St Helens by the end of Day 3.
So where would we get to next? The momentum was growing!
2 members of the team, Emma and Georgina took on a ‘race to the end’ challenge. The competed at the gym, raced around their houses and up and down their streets, each trying to achieve more than the other. Midnight eventually came and they were exhausted. Bit what an incredible day with both girls achieving more than 57 000 each and Emma just pipping Georgina to the post with a massive 57 617 steps!! Remarkable!!
That total took us in a straight from St Helens to the Arc De Triomphe in Paris!!!
Day 5 results flooded in. What a magnificent effort from everyone. Everyone was walking further and further to keep up their miles to achieve even greater goals
Well!! With an unbelievable 1 328 935 steps we walked 587 miles!!
That’s from St Andrews in Scotland to Land’s End.
Incredible!!
