Love Singing! Join a Choir!

Nothing lifts the spirits like singing! Nothing hides how bad you are like a choir!

Singing is one of the great joys of our lives, it also has lots of other benefits! It’s been shown to improve well-being by improving lung function, releases endorphins, enhances memory for people with dementia, increases pain threshold, helps with grief and stress (it’s very difficult to concentrate on anything else when you are singing your heart out!), it will also help you develop a sense of belonging and connection.
There are all sorts of choirs, not just religious church-based choirs singing hymns. You may be able to unearth your inner rock star! You might even make it onto Britain’s Got Talent! Keep the faith!

Here is a list of local choirs to the St Albans area:

St Albans Bach Choir

St Albans Cathedral, Sumpter Yard, St Albans, AL1 1BY

If you are taking your choir duties to another level and want something more classical, then this is one of the finest large choirs in Hertfordshire.  Since their first concert in 1924 they have performed a wide variety of works including the Baroque masterpieces of Bach, Handel, Mozart and Haydn.  They engage professional soloists and orchestras of the highest calibre.  They have 3 major concerts, in November, Easter and in July, plus some Christmas concerts for charity.

Their concert ticket sell for £20 – £30 each, so guessing if you are tone deaf or looking for light hearted sing-a-long, this may be a little bit too serious for you.  I am also guessing they may not be able to accommodate you 😊.
