We have recently had the privilege of working with a local Primary School in Nantwich called St Oswald’s on a Pen Pal project.
The project has been developed by Home Instead’s own charity Home Instead Charities, to help to prevent loneliness by writing letters to ageing adults.
A group of year 5/6 children have worked very hard on their letters which have been collected and redistributed to some of our wonderful client’s, helping them to feel more connected to their local communities.
Feeling that connection and preventing loneliness is so important, as studies have shown that loneliness can increase the risk of Dementia, and it can also increase the risk of cardio-vascular disease.
So, who are Home Instead Charities?
Home Instead believe that age should be celebrated, and that everyone should be able to live happily, comfortably and independently at home. Home Instead set up our own charity, Home Instead Charities. The charity raises money and then gives it to community groups and small charities who work with ageing adults. Their mission is to end loneliness in ageing adults by making sure they are healthy, happy and connected to their communities, and this is why this particular project was developed.
Thank you to St Oswald’s for your wonderful contribution, your letters are sure to bring great joy to people who really deserve it this festive season, and we hope some lovely connections will be established and nurtured well in to the future.
