Dementia Action Week 2026 in South Cheshire

From the 18th – 22nd May 2026, Dementia Action Week brings communities across the UK together to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and improve support for those living with dementia. Here in South Cheshire, a range of local events in Nantwich and Crewe are helping to create a more dementia friendly community, something that we at Home Instead South Cheshire are proud to support every day.
As a provider of dementia care at home in South Cheshire, this week reflects everything we stand for: compassionate care, meaningful connection, and helping people remain independent in familiar surroundings.
What is Dementia Action Week?
Dementia Action Week is a national awareness campaign focused on encouraging people to act, whether that’s learning more about the condition, seeking a diagnosis, supporting a loved one, or simply starting a conversation.
With over 900,000 people in the UK living with dementia, the need to accessible information and local dementia support services has never been greater. The week shines a light on the importance of early support, ongoing care, and creating inclusive communities where people feel understood.
Supporting People Living with Dementia at Home
At Home Instead South Cheshire, we see first-hand how the right support can make a real difference. Our approach to home care for dementia is built around the individual, their routines, preferences, and their life story.
Rather than a one-size-fits-all model, we provide personalised dementia care at home, including:
- Companionship and meaningful activities
- Support with daily routines
- Specialist dementia care tailored to changing needs
- Respite care for family members
- Help to maintain independence and confidence at home
Dementia Action Week aligns closely with our belief that people can continue to live well with dementia, especially when supported in a familiar environment by people who truly understand them.
It’s also a reminder that care doesn’t just happen in the home, it’s strengthened by the wider community.
