Shrewsbury Woman Wins Award For 'Amazing' Dedication

A Shrewsbury woman has won an ‘Employee of the Year’ Award in recognition of her “amazing” dedication to her clients and colleagues.

Lynn Oakley was chosen for the award from a short-list of nominees at the 2016 Shropshire Partners in Care Awards.

Award judges heard that Lynn, who works for home care company Home Instead Senior Care Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Oswestry, regularly went beyond the call of duty for both her clients and her colleagues.

“We often hear of CAREGivers going the extra mile but Lynn would go an extra hundred miles and back again for her clients without thinking anything of it. She goes to great lengths to make them feel special and happy,” said her manager Rachael Birchall

“She is so honest, trustworthy and reliable. Her clients and their families adore her. She is one incredible lady who delivers the outstanding quality of care that our team strives for every day.

“I’m so proud of her winning this award. She is totally deserving of it. Ironically, she doesn’t see what she does as anything special because caring is so natural to her. But what she does is amazing. She rarely leaves a client’s home without making a positive difference to their lives.”

Lynn joined Home Instead Senior Care as a CAREGiver less than three years ago after a 40-year office career and finally felt she had found her true vocation.

“For me it’s the best job I’ve ever had and I just find it so fulfilling. I rarely leave a clients house without a smile on my face and a feeling of achievement,” said Lynn, who lives in Monkmoor.

“I didn’t know it at the time, but having my elderly Nana live with my family when I was growing up obviously sowed a seed, but it took 40 years of working in administration to find my vocation, and I’ve had great training and support from Home Instead Senior Care.

“I’m proud to have been honoured with this award, I’m finding it difficult to believe I’ve won because there are so many deserving employees working in the care sector.”

The award was presented to Lynn by David Werthmann, from award sponsor Care Choices, at an awards ceremony at the Park Inn Hotel, Telford.
