How We Help Build a Dementia‑Friendly Romford

Romford is a vibrant, diverse community and at Home Instead Romford, we’re proud to play an active role in supporting local families affected by dementia. Awareness is growing, but many people still don’t know how to spot the early signs or where to turn for help.
That’s why our team is committed to education, connection, and early intervention.
Early diagnosis and timely care intervention with conditions like dementia are absolutely vital for older adults. When dementia is identified early, families can access the right medical support, put practical measures in place, and make informed decisions long before a crisis occurs.
It allows older adults to stay independent for longer, reduces avoidable hospital admissions, and helps prevent the emotional and financial strain that often comes with late‑stage intervention. Most importantly, early support gives families time to understand the condition, time to adapt, and time to create meaningful moments together.

What are Home Instead Romford Doing?
Every month, we host the Romford Memory Café, a warm and welcoming space where people living with dementia, and their families can socialise, enjoy activities, and access support. It’s a place where friendships form, confidence grows, and no one feels alone.
Educating the Next Generation
We also work with local schools to deliver dementia awareness workshops for young people. These sessions help children understand the condition, build empathy, and strengthen intergenerational relationships. When young people learn about dementia early, they become powerful advocates for kindness and inclusion.
Why Early Signs Matter
Dementia often begins with small changes: forgetting names, losing track of time, or becoming overwhelmed in busy places. Our dementia‑trained Care Professionals know how to spot these early indicators and support families in seeking help before a crisis occurs.
Early intervention can reduce stress, improve long‑term health outcomes, and save families significant financial strain.
