When “Cheaper” Care Isn’t Safer Care

Why We Won’t Compromise on Safety for Clients or Care Professionals

There comes a point for many families arranging care where the financial reality starts to bite. Quite understandably, they begin asking whether there’s a cheaper way to provide the same support.

Sometimes there is.

But sometimes reducing the cost also reduces safety.

Recently, we supported a client whose needs had changed significantly over time. What had once been manageable for one person now required two Care Professionals to assist safely with moving and handling, which naturally meant the cost of care had increased.

An alternative option was suggested by the family in an attempt to reduce the cost of care. One person managing alone.

On paper, it looked simpler and less expensive. But after proper assessment, our conclusion remained the same. It was not safe.

This is where values matter.

It would have been easy to agree to the cost saving option and avoid a difficult conversation. But care decisions affect both the client and the Care Professional. If either person is placed at risk, then it isn’t the right decision.

Our Care Professional was honest about that. She knew the physical demands, understood the risks, and said she could not continue if expected to manage alone.
We respected that completely.

At Home Instead Reigate & Tandridge, we will not compromise on safety to reduce costs or protect profit margins. We believe looking after our Care Professionals is part of looking after our clients.

When Care Professionals feel supported, listened to and protected, they stay. Relationships grow. Clients feel secure. Care becomes consistent, calm and dependable.
That matters far more than cutting corners.

Good care is not just about keeping someone at home. It’s about making sure everyone involved is safe, respected and treated with dignity.

We will never compromise on safety to reduce costs.
