Home Instead Pocklington & Brough at the Market Weighton Health & Wellbeing Event – A Day of Community, Care & Connection

On Saturday, August 17th, Home Instead Pocklington & Brough proudly joined 26 other community organisations at the Health and Wellbeing Event hosted by the Market Weighton Patient Participation Group (PPG). Held at St Johns Church in the heart of Market Weighton, this vibrant, volunteer-led event brought together a wide range of services, support networks, and wellness opportunities for local residents—all under one roof.

With the hall packed with providers, the event truly was a celebration of community spirit and collaboration. Visitors had the chance to meet with representatives from key health and wellbeing organisations including the Alzheimer’s Society, Mind, Earase, U3A, Market Weighton Wildlife, TogetherWeCare, and Holistic Therapy providers.  Of course, our dedicated team at Home Instead Pocklington & Brough was there as well.  We particularly enjoyed speaking with the other services at the event.  We love finding out more about what else is available within the community to support our clients to live well.

The purpose of the event was simple but powerful: to raise awareness of local support services, encourage healthier lifestyles, and create a stronger, more connected community. Judging by the turnout and the lively atmosphere, it certainly hit the mark.

We were delighted to be part of such a well-organised and welcoming event. At our Home Instead stall, we spoke with a wide range of people—from concerned family members seeking care options for elderly relatives, to individuals curious about careers in home care. Our team was on hand to offer advice about our personalised home care services, companionship support, dementia care, and how we help older adults continue living independently in their own homes.

Events like these are a fantastic opportunity for people to discover what’s available locally and to get to know people within those services face-to-face. We were especially encouraged to see how engaged people were—not just in seeking help, but in asking how they could support others in the community too.

There were plenty of interactive opportunities throughout the day, with wellness taster sessions, educational resources, and even a few fun activities including yoga and Thia Chi for those who wanted to try something new. And of course, no community event is complete without a bit of hospitality—free snacks and refreshments were available to keep everyone going!

We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Market Weighton PPG and all the volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this event such a success. Their commitment to community wellbeing is both inspiring and essential, and we are honoured to have been invited to take part.

If you missed us at the event but would like to learn more about how Home Instead Pocklington & Brough can support you or a loved one, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Whether you’re looking for care, want to join our team, or simply want to connect, we’re here to help.

Together, we can build a healthier, more supportive community—one conversation at a time.
