It was such a pleasure to visit the Barry War Museum in March.
It’s situated just opposite the amusement park on Barry Island, with lots of street parking nearby.
Filled with so much memorabilia and authentically staged areas, it really feels like you have gone back to the First and Second World Wars.
The volunteers who show you around the exhibits tell the stories of the people behind the objects and pictures, it’s a truly captivating experience.
It’s a wonderful opportunity to reminisce as you become immersed in another time.
Alun Robertson showed Chrissy around and she learned many new things about life during the wars in and around Barry.
We are lucky to have another member of the museum, Glen Booker, due to deliver an interactive talk at one of our Memory Cafes later this year.
We highly recommend this as a local place to visit and there are no admission fees, as they rely on donations.
