To matter what the weather is up to you can always guarantee a good day out at a local garden centre. Normally there cafes have lovely food to enjoy given you the time to relax inbetween shopping. Gardens centres have less hustle and bustle about them compared to the shops in the city centre.

1. Pugh’s Garden Village – Wenvoe

Pugh’s Garden Village in Wenvoe is a favourite among our clients and Care Professionals. Pugh’s has been established for over 65 years and also have another sire in Radyr, Cardiff. The Wenvoe site has a much bigger garden centre and retail section. Also you will find the Orange Tree Restaurant open Monday to Saturday for lunch. They provide lovely and freshly prepared food with seating inside and out.

They are open every day of the week and free parking is available on site. A great family run garden centre to visit come rain or shine.

2. Brynawel Fuchsia Garden Centre

In Penarth you will find Brynawel Fuchsia Garden Centre. They are open every day of the week for all your gardening needs. From seeds, to flowering bulbs and shrubs you will be sure to find something for your needs.

They have a large free care park and the whole site is on one level in the countryside. Also there is a delivery services so if you are unable to get your chosen items and live in the Penarth, Barry, Dinas, Sully, and Wenvoe area speak with the team there who will be able to sort this out.

3. Wild Botanic

Wild Botanic in Barry is more of a flower shop than garden centre but still have a variety of plants and pots for your home and garden. Unusual yet beautiful plants can be found here for yourself or as a gift. If you are in the main town of Barry it is worth popping in to have a look.

Open every day but Sunday with parking available by Barry Library which is only a short walk away.

4. Pugh’s Garden Village – Radyr

If you are happy to drive a little further you could visit Pugh’s other site in Radyr. Along with all your garden needs there is also a food hall full of locally grown produce. Also not forgetting The Watering Can Coffee Shop and The Walnut Tree Express Coffee Bar to stop for a drink or a bite to eat.

They are open every day of the week and free parking is available on site. As well as stopping at Pugh’s you also have a few other retail places to browse.

5. Bute Park Plant Shop

Just behind Cardiff Castle is Cardiff’s Bute Park and in the centre of the park you will find Bute Park Plant Shop. Here you will find lots of your small plants like hanging baskets, herbs and bulbs. Their staff is very knowledgeable and on hand to help where needed.

You can also book onto guided tours of their working nursery which now produce and distribute thousands of plants across the whole of Cardiff. Open every day of the week from about 7:30am till 6pm. Parking can be found around the park just a short walk away.
