Specialist Care, Made Personal

At Home Instead Oxford, we believe that exceptional care goes far beyond supporting a diagnosis — it’s about understanding the whole person. That belief sits at the heart of our new campaign: Specialist Care, Made Personal.
Across our community, individuals and families are living with a wide range of complex and evolving conditions. From neurological diagnoses to age-related conditions and clinical care needs, no two journeys are ever the same. That’s why our approach is never one-size-fits-all. Instead, we focus on delivering care that is as unique as the people we support.
Looking Beyond the Diagnosis
A diagnosis may help guide care, but it never defines the individual.
Whether we are supporting someone living with Huntington’s disease, Motor Neurone Disease (MND), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), or dementia, our focus is always on the person behind the condition — their routines, preferences, personality, and what matters most to them each day.
For one client, that might mean maintaining independence for as long as possible. For another, it could be about comfort, reassurance, and preserving familiar routines. Our role is to listen, understand, and adapt.

Highly Trained, Specialist Care Professionals
We know that confidence in care starts with competence.
That’s why we invest heavily in specialist training for our Care Professionals. No one is placed with a client unless they have a strong understanding of that individual’s condition and the specific support required.
Our training covers a wide range of specialist areas, including:
- Neurological conditions such as MND, MS, and Huntington’s disease
- Dementia care, including communication and behavioural understanding
- Clinical tasks such as catheter care, stoma care, and Peristeen bowel management
- Mobility support and safe moving and handling
- End-of-life and palliative care
This ensures that every client is supported by someone who is not only compassionate, but also knowledgeable and confident in delivering the right care.

Truly Person-Centred Care Plans
At the core of our service are detailed, person-centred care plans.
These go far beyond basic care needs. We take time to capture the finer details — the small but significant things that make a real difference to daily life. From how someone likes their tea, to how they prefer to be supported in the morning, to understanding subtle changes in mood or behaviour.
These plans are living documents, shaped by ongoing conversations with clients and their families, and continuously updated as needs evolve.

The Power of Consistency
Consistency is one of the most important — and often underestimated — aspects of quality care.
We carefully match clients with a small, dedicated team of Care Professionals. This allows genuine relationships to form, where trust builds over time and understanding deepens naturally.
It means our teams notice the small changes. They understand the nuances. They know when something isn’t quite right — even before it’s spoken.
For clients and families, this brings reassurance. For us, it allows us to deliver care that is not only safe and effective, but truly personal.

Supporting a Wide Range of Needs
Through our specialist care services, we support clients with a variety of complex conditions and care requirements.
This includes:
- Providing sensitive, responsive care for those with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), focusing on comfort, communication, and dignity
- Helping clients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) manage fluctuating symptoms and maintain independence
- Delivering compassionate dementia care that supports both individuals and their families
- Offering live-in care for those who wish to remain in the comfort of their own home with round-the-clock support
- Supporting clinical needs such as catheter care, stoma care, and bowel management routines
Every package of care is tailored, flexible, and built around the individual.

Care That Makes a Difference
Specialist care is not just about managing conditions — it’s about enabling people to live well, in a way that feels right for them.
Our Specialist Care, Made Personal campaign will share real stories from the people we support and the Care Professionals who stand beside them. Through these stories, we hope to offer insight, reassurance, and a deeper understanding of what truly personalised care looks like.
