A Look Back at a Month Filled with Care and Connection, Sharing Stories and Smiles from September
Noticing the little signs that your elderly loved one might be struggling to cope on their own is key to keeping them safe and supported. Early awareness can make a big difference, helping prevent situations from becoming unsafe or overwhelming.
Do you know what to look out for? From changes in daily routines to subtle shifts in mood or behaviour, there are often signs that support is needed – but they can be easy to miss.
Read our blog to learn more about how to spot the signs and what steps you can take to ensure your loved one continues to live safely and comfortably:
Donna is one of our brilliant Client Service Supervisors and has been a valued member of the Home Instead Oxford team for more than eight years. With an incredible 36 years in care, she brings a depth of experience that few can match — and she’s still as passionate about supporting clients and carers today as when she first started.
This year, Donna’s dedication was recognised in style when she received a Long Service in Care Award from the Oxfordshire Association for Care Providers, presented at a breathtaking ceremony at Blenheim Palace. It was a well-deserved moment of celebration for someone who has devoted her career to helping others.
Of course, anyone who knows Donna will tell you she’s much more than her impressive CV. She’s a cracking joker, a massive character, and the heartbeat of our office — always ready with a laugh, a story, or one of her famous cakes. 🍰
We’re incredibly proud to have Donna on the team — she reminds us every day that care can be full of heart, humour, and a good dose of fun.
Every September, people and organisations around the world come together to raise awareness and challenge the stigma surrounding Alzheimer’s and dementia. At Home Instead Oxford, we see every day how dementia affects individuals and their families, and we are passionate about ensuring that those living with dementia can continue to enjoy a fulfilling and meaningful life.
What makes us different is our specialist dementia care expertise. All of our Care Professionals who support someone living with dementia complete our City & Guilds accredited dementia training. This ensures that they have the skills, knowledge and confidence to provide the highest quality, person-centred care – whether that means supporting with daily routines, encouraging independence, or simply offering comfort and reassurance.
We are proud to be recognised leaders in dementia care across Oxfordshire, offering tailored support that adapts as needs change.

This October, we’re excited to launch a photo competition that celebrates the special relationships between our Care Professionals and their clients. We know that every visit is unique – whether it’s a trip out into the community, enjoying a favourite hobby together at home, or simply sharing a laugh over a cup of tea – and we’d love to showcase these moments.
How it works:
Prizes:
There will be three winners. The top prize will be a paid-for activity for the winning client and their Care Professional to enjoy together – for example, coffee and cake at home or at a favourite local spot.
We can’t wait to see your entries and celebrate the joy and connection that make Home Instead Oxford so special.

Thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts – every response makes a difference!
