Care Skills Academy - Nelli's Journey

As part of our Care Skills Academy, we're sharing Nelli's inspiring journey of development with Home Instead.

We’re delighted to share the story of Nelli, our longest-serving employee, and her inspiring journey with Home Instead.
Nelli joined us in 2012 and quickly formed meaningful connections with clients, particularly those living with dementia. Although she hadn’t previously worked in a professional care role, Nelli embraced the challenge that many new Care Professionals face – getting stuck in, learning on the job and growing with confidence over time.

Alongside her role, Nelli completed her Level 2, 3 and 4 qualifications in Health and Social Care, helping to shape and strengthen her knowledge and skills. Her professional development naturally led to career progression. Nelli began her journey as a Care Professional, progressed to Senior Care Professional and this year stepped up into the role of Client Service Supervisor to support maternity cover.

Nelli’s commitment and dedication to Home Instead are clearly reflected in her incredible 13 years of service – and we hope there are many more to come. We’re excited to see where her journey continues to take her.

Her friendly, caring nature and exceptional ability to build trusting relationships and empathise with others have certainly not gone unnoticed. Nelli was named Care Professional of the Quarter in Autumn 2023 and has been nominated twice in the OACP Oxfordshire Care Awards twice – in 2022 for the Long Term Service Award and in 2025 for the Domiciliary Care Worker Award.

Nelli is a shining example of the future potential within our industry and at Home Instead – something we’re incredibly proud to support. This is exactly why we launched our Care Skills Academy this year: to provide clear structure, development opportunities and a guided pathway for those looking to progress and reach their goals.
We asked Nelli what she thought of her Home Instead journey, and she said “I have remained with Home Instead for many years because I truly believe in the company’s approach to care and its commitment to clients. I’ve witnessed first hand the dedication and professionalism of the team, which has been both inspiring and reassuring throughout my career.“
