At Home Instead North Wales, our role is to support people in living the life they choose—whether that means maintaining daily routines or providing opportunities for something more memorable.

For one of our clients Suzanne, who is affectionately known as Bubbles, that meant ticking something off her wish list: a holiday in Blackpool and visiting the Tower Ballroom to dance under its famous chandeliers.

A Passion For Dancing

Bubbles – as her nickname suggests – is a real fun-loving lady, who loves to sing and dance.  It was a big part of her life in her younger years, and whilst her circumstances have changed somewhat, her enthusiasm for life remains unaltered.

In 2014, Bubbles was in a car accident that dramatically changed her life – now with reduced mobility and using a power chair to assist her getting out and about, that doesn’t stop her from  living her life to the fullest.

Bubbles enjoys day trips out with her Home Instead Care Professionals, but this Summer she wanted to take that one step further and enjoy a few days away in sunny Blackpool!

She mentioned it to her care team at Home Instead – and whilst many would see barriers – they saw an opportunity to make a difference and fulfil someone’s dream.

From Idea to a Lifelong Memory

Turning the idea into a reality took some planning. The team coordinated accessible transport, booked suitable accommodation, planned a fun and meaningful itinerary and made arrangements to ensure the visit would be smooth and inclusive.

One of the main highlights of the trip was a visit to the world-famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom – which if you are a huge Strictly Come Dancing fan like Bubbles, was a dream come true.

Under the bright lights, and to the soundtrack of the iconic Wurlitzer organ, Bubbles was supported onto the dancefloor by her Care Professionals, where she was able to dance and recreate all those wonderful Strictly moments.  And what did Bubbles think about the experience?  In the words of Craig Revel Horwood, it was “simply MAR-VELL-OUS!”

Care That Listens

Bubble’s trip to Blackpool was never about doing something extravagant. It was about listening to what matters to someone, and finding a practical way to make it happen.

At Home Instead North Wales, we believe that’s what good care looks like—supporting independence, respecting individuality, and helping people stay connected to what they love.
