Meet our magical client, Mr P

At the age of 8, Mr P received a ‘magic box’ for his birthday. Little did he know then that he was to become a well-known magician running more than 2,800 shows in his lifetime.

He has been a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and an Associate of the Magic Circle – two of the most acclaimed societies for magic – and Mr P spent much of his career running magic shows for groups, charities and his favourite audience – school children.

The talented family man was also an engineer throughout his working life and made (amongst many things!) equipment for other magicians to use in their own shows.

“Mr P is a man of many skills,” said Amaara Patel, owner of Home Instead Kirklees. “His weekly routine consists of doing different activities each day, he’s really independent and we’re happy to check in on him once a week, which gives peace of mind for his family.”

Talking about Home Instead, Mr P, 86, said: “Usually we have a coffee and a chat, it’s great company. It’s also a comfort to my family because they know there is somebody coming in.”

“One of things I like the Care Professional to do is wrestle my duvet into submission!” he laughed. “It’s things like that which give me a huge help!”
