Be A Santa To A Senior

Our wonderful initiative for Age Concern members continues this Christmas...

Late evening during the first week in December, the elves were hard at work as we came together to pack over 100 bags of festive goodies, all ready to be delivered to the wonderful members of Age Concern. The room was filled with laughter, teamwork, and a shared sense of purpose as each bag was carefully prepared with love and care.

For the fifth year running, Home Instead Maidenhead, Henley & Wallingford was proud to join forces with Twyford Together and RG10 Magazine to continue this much-loved festive tradition. It’s a partnership built on community spirit, generosity, and a shared commitment to bringing joy to those who may need it most at this special time of year. Prior to COVID in 2020, we had for many years held a Christmas party at The Colleton School, hosting over 140 members of Age Concern and often joined by our then MP and Prime Minister Theresa May, who would join us in festive sing-a-longs. However, since COVID, we have moved to producing these goodie bags, which are very gratefully received by all the Age Concern members.

Each cheerful hamper is filled with delicious treats sourced by The Gardening Club at Hare Hatch, including chocolates, cake, biscuits, and crackers. Alongside the festive goodies, every bag also included a Home Instead puzzle book to enjoy during quieter moments, as well as a beautifully coloured card created by the children of The Colleton School in Twyford. These heartfelt cards add a truly special touch, bringing smiles and a sense of connection across generations.

We absolutely love putting these festive bags together, and year after year they never fail to bring joy to the faces of Age Concern’s members. Knowing that these small gestures can brighten someone’s day and remind them they are thought of means so much to everyone involved.

As the festive season approaches, initiatives like this remind us of the power of community and kindness. We’re incredibly grateful to all our partners and volunteers who helped make this possible once again. Sending our warmest wishes to Age Concern’s members — we hope these hampers bring a little extra cheer, comfort, and festive spirit to your celebrations.
