Supporting Our Community: Know Your Neighbour Dementia Support Marketplace

Home Instead team at the Know Your Neighbour Dementia Support Event in Liverpool

Yesterday, our Head of Business Operations, Mary Costello-Smith and our Community Officer, Pauline Haggett, were delighted to attend the Know your Neighbour Dementia Support marketplace at LACE in Sefton Park, Liverpool.

The event provided a fantastic opportunity to engage with local health and social care partners, allowing us to learn more about what is needed within the south Liverpool community, helping us strengthen how we support individuals and families living with dementia.

What is a Neighbourhood Approach?

Following the NHS Neighbourhood Health Framework published in March 2026, the concept of a ‘neighbourhood’ means a local area where health, social care, and community services work closely together to support the same group of people.

The framework is all about organising care around what works best for patients – especially keeping things close to home. By joining up GPs, community teams, local authority services, and Voluntary, Charity, and Voluntary Community Social Enterprise Sector (VCSE) partners, the support we provide feels even more coordinated and personal.

Shared Goals

This joined-up way of working is exactly what is needed to help bring local health and community organisations and care providers together. Our collaborative goals include:

  • Raising awareness of the existing support available in the local community.
  • Building a clearer picture of our neighbourhood’s specific needs.
  • Making meaningful connections that break down organisational silos.
  • Creating a more holistic journey for people experiencing poor mental health.
  • Shaping a neighbourhood where services are accessible, joined up, and truly centred around the people we serve.

Home Instead in the Community

Mary and Pauline had a truly valuable time at the event, connecting with lots of people who stopped by our stand. They were able to share vital information about the key aspects of Home Instead’s services, highlighting how we support people living with dementia and their carers to remain safe and independent in the comfort of their own homes.

Together, we can continue to build a well-connected, compassionate community where support is always close to home.
