From Care Professional to Field Supervisor, Natalie's Journey
This year, Natalie is celebrating five years with Home Instead Lewes District and Uckfield.
Since joining the team in June 2021 as a Care Professional, she has progressed through several roles and is now one of our Field Supervisors.
We caught up with Natalie to hear more about why she chose Home Instead, what has helped her develop her career and why she believes there are so many opportunities within care.
Finding the right place to build a career
Before joining Home Instead, Natalie already had experience in adult social care, working as a private carer. She had been planning to move to Manchester to begin a role in live-in care, but when her dad became unwell, her plans changed and she began looking for opportunities closer to home.
“I applied for three different care roles and was offered all three, but I chose Home Instead because of the ethos and the way they approached care. It felt different.”
Natalie joined Home Instead in June 2021, during a challenging period for the care sector as teams continued to navigate COVID-19 restrictions and changing regulations.
She quickly settled into her role as a Care Professional and, after around a year, progressed to Field Support before being promoted to Field Supervisor in 2026.
Growing in confidence and progressing within care
“I knew I wanted to develop my career. I’ve been mentored and supported to progress, and the support of my managers has been instrumental throughout my journey.”
Alongside gaining experience in different roles, Natalie completed her Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care in 2025, broadening her knowledge and developing skills she now puts into practice every day.
Ongoing learning continues to be an important part of her role, from First Aid training and industry updates to online learning and training sessions alongside Care Professionals.
Making a difference every day
Although Natalie’s responsibilities have changed over the past five years, the reason she enjoys working in care remains the same.
“I like having a sense of purpose and feeling that I’ve achieved something at the end of the day. Knowing you’ve improved someone’s day or made them smile is incredibly fulfilling.”
Her role as Field Supervisor also gives her the opportunity to support Care Professionals in delivering high-quality care and to share the knowledge and experience she has gained throughout her own journey.
“Care can be so much more”
For anyone considering a career in care, particularly those who have never worked in the sector before, Natalie encourages them to give it a chance.
“Care isn’t always what people imagine it to be. It can be so much more. You build genuine relationships with clients and get to know the people you’re supporting.
“Some people don’t see care as a career, but for me, it is. There are so many different career paths available, and your journey doesn’t have to be straightforward. You can find the area you enjoy and develop from there.
“The variety is one of the things I love. Every day is different and, although there can be challenges, it’s an incredibly rewarding career.”
