Supporting Alzheimer’s Awareness with Home Instead Leigh: Our Memory Walk at Pennington Flash – In Memory of Nana Dotty

At Home Instead Leigh, supporting individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s is deeply personal to us. This weekend, our team proudly took part in the Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk at the beautiful Pennington Flash, alongside the fantastic Be Well Wigan team.

We walked in loving memory of Nana Dotty, whose warmth, humour, and strength continue to inspire us every day. Participating in this event wasn’t just about the steps we took — it was a heartfelt tribute and a powerful show of support for the millions of families living with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Walking Together for a Cause That Matters

The day started with an energetic warm-up led by Be Well Wigan, bringing the community together in great spirits. Then we set off on a gentle 5K route around Pennington Flash, surrounded by calm waters, greenery, and plenty of quiet moments for reflection.

It was truly moving to see people of all ages walking side by side — all with their own stories, memories, and motivations. Events like this remind us just how important it is to continue raising awareness and advocating for better support, both in the community and at home.
