How we are helping local community groups bring more sparkle to Christmas.
As the festive season approaches, I wanted to find a way to make a real difference for children in our local community – those who might otherwise go without the simple magic of Christmas Eve.
This year, I’m proud to be organizing a Toy Collection across our local towns in support of Daffodils Dreams, a Wigan-based charity that has spent the past seven years creating Christmas Eve Boxes for children in need.
Each box is filled with love – small gifts, toys, books, pyjamas, and festive treats that bring joy and comfort to families who might be struggling. It’s a gesture that means the world to a child on Christmas Eve and a reminder that their community cares.
Daffodils Dreams supports children living in poverty or facing difficult circumstances, helping them feel valued and included throughout the year.
Their Christmas Eve Box campaign has become a much-loved local tradition, bringing smiles to hundreds of children each year. This year, with your help, I want to make sure they can reach even more families.
We’re collecting new, unwrapped toys and gifts for children of all ages, from toddlers to teenagers. Every donation will go directly towards creating Daffodils Dreams’ Christmas Eve Boxes.
Here’s how you can get involved:
Donate a toy: Drop off a new, unwrapped toy at one of our official collection points (details to follow).
Be a drop-off point: If you’re a local business, school, or community centre and would like to host a collection box, please get in touch.
Spread the word: Share this initiative on social media, tell friends and family, or even run a mini collection in your workplace.
Every toy, every share, and every small act of kindness helps us reach more children this Christmas.

All donations will be delivered directly to Daffodils Dreams in Wigan for sorting, wrapping, and packing into Christmas Eve Boxes.
One of the best parts of living in our area is the strength of our community. Time and again, people come together to support one another – and this Christmas, we can do it again.
Even the smallest contribution can make a world of difference to a child who might not otherwise wake up to the magic of Christmas morning.
