It’s that time again when our wonderful Care Pros complete their annual refresher training – an essential part of ensuring we continue to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care to every client we support.

At Home Instead, we believe that high-quality care starts with knowledge, confidence, and competence. That’s why each year our Care Pros take part in comprehensive refresher training sessions designed to reinforce best practice, update them on the latest guidance, and strengthen their skills across all aspects of care.

Medication support is a key part of the services we provide, and our refresher training ensures our team remains fully competent and confident when assisting clients with:

  • Oral medication

  • Topical creams and ointments

  • Eye drops

  • Ear drops

These sessions revisit safe administration procedures, correct documentation, infection prevention, dignity and respect, and what to do if something doesn’t seem right. By regularly refreshing this knowledge, we reduce risk, improve outcomes, and give families peace of mind that their loved ones are in safe hands.

While our annual refresher training is a major milestone in our calendar, learning doesn’t stop there. Our Care Pros are continuously completing training modules throughout the year to ensure their knowledge stays up to scratch and aligned with current best practice.

From safeguarding and moving & handling, to infection control and person-centred care, ongoing professional development is part of our culture. We actively encourage our team to expand their skills, ask questions, and keep growing – because better-trained staff means better care for our clients.
