We’re thrilled to announce that we will be working with Make It Wild, a UK-based organisation dedicated to protecting nature and restoring the planet.
At Home Instead, we care deeply not only about the people in our community, but also about the world we all share. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that we will be working with Make It Wild, a UK-based organisation dedicated to protecting nature and restoring the planet through tree planting, wild habitat creation, and biodiversity support.
As part of our environmental commitment, we’ve pledged to offset 70 tonnes of CO₂e every year, which is the equivalent emissions generated by the travel of our dedicated Care Professionals, the wider office team, and the electricity and energy used in our office building. We now have 19 newly planted trees in East Anglia as part of this effort.
Why this matters: The impact of tree planting goes far beyond carbon offsetting. Woodland creation is one of the most effective ways to boost biodiversity. As trees are planted and the land is left undisturbed, grass and wild plants flourish, encouraging a rise in small mammals like mice and voles, which in turn attract birds of prey like barn owls.
As the trees mature, they:
Not only that, but trees help filter water, reduce flooding, prevent soil erosion, and provide essential shelter and windbreaks.
We are proud to take this step forward with Make It Wild, because caring for people also means caring for the planet they live in.
