Local home care company invites community to dementia wellbeing event

Home Instead Ipswich, Felixstowe & Woodbridge, a local home care company, is delighted to be hosting a dementia wellbeing event, supporting members of the community who have been diagnosed with dementia, as well as their loved ones.

The company provides home care to ageing adults, allowing them to lead fulfilled lives in safe and familiar surroundings, where they feel most comfortable. Offering specialist dementia care, Home Instead has care professionals who are trained to deal with the symptoms of dementia and provide physical and emotional support for people living with the condition.

Home Instead Ipswich’s dementia well-being event will bring together 25 organisations which will offer support and valuable information for families who are living with what happens next after a diagnosis.

Author Peter Berry is also getting involved with the event, coming along to talk about dementia. As a young person diagnosed with dementia, Peter has written two books on his experiences of living with the condition.

The event will take place on World Alzheimer’s Day, which is the 21st of September, from 1 pm – 4 pm. It is being held at the lovely setting of Seckford Golf Club, Seckford Hall Road, Great Bealings, Woodbridge, Suffolk, IP13 6NT.

Commenting on the event, co-owner of Home Instead Ipswich, Felixstowe & Woodbridge Chris Lye said, “Our dementia wellbeing event is a great opportunity for members of the community to learn more about dementia whilst meeting other people who are facing similar challenges.

“It doesn’t have to be a struggle. We want families affected by dementia to know that there is help available for them. There really is room for the community to be more dementia friendly, and I’m keen to push it further.”
