Come and join us at our Harrogate office for an immersive and scientific experience, where you can better understand what life is like living with dementia.
On the 23rd August, Home Instead, Harrogate, Ripon & Thirsk will be visited by the Virtual Dementia Bus, currently touring the country. This bus provides a three-hour session, where you can experience a scientifically and medically proven method of making us understand what it feels like to live with dementia. This will help us understand a misunderstood disease and increase awareness in the local community!
This highly visual and aural experience sees participants wearing googles, headphones and spiky insoles. They are then asked to perform everyday tasks but with distorted vision, loud noises and sensory overload which replicate the sensory changes associated with dementia, causing difficulty and distress.
Each ‘experience’ lasts 3 hours from start to finish. We have one session running in the morning from 10.00am-1.00pm and another in the afternoon from 1.30pm-4.30pm.
There is also a small health questionnaire to complete on the day, due to the sensory nature of the session.
Places are limited so get in touch by telephone 01423 774 490 or email [email protected].
