Have you ever wondered what it truly feels like to live with dementia?

As part of Glasgow Science Festival and WestFest 2025, we at Home Instead SUR Group are proud to bring the Virtual Dementia Tour to the Celebrating Connections Community Day on Saturday 7th June. Held at the Clarice Pears Building, 90 Byres Road, Glasgow, this free event runs from 12–4pm and offers something truly powerful: a chance to step into the world of someone living with dementia.

What is the Virtual Dementia Tour?

Created by Training 2 CARE, the Virtual Dementia Tour is a fully immersive 15-minute experience designed to give participants a first-hand understanding of cognitive decline. You’ll gain insight into the sensory challenges, confusion, and disorientation often experienced by those with dementia, an experience that can transform how we think, act, and care.

Why it matters:

In the UK, 1 in 3 people are expected to die from dementia-related illnesses. With such a profound impact on families and communities, events like this are vital. The Virtual Dementia Tour helps raise awareness, build empathy, and spark important conversations about how we can better support those living with dementia.

“Home Instead SUR Group is committed to enhancing awareness and empathy for those living with dementia. By experiencing first-hand the realities of dementia, we believe we can inspire greater compassion and more effective support, ultimately enriching lives across our community.”
Lesley Ballingall, Managing Director, Home Instead SUR Group
