Join us as we look back at our VE Day 2025 Tea Party celebrations! A community moment we really enjoyed sharing.
It’s been 80 years since the very first VE Day, and we wanted to celebrate that with our clients, particularly those who lived that very first celebration. So we decided to throw a tea party in their honour.
We set about decorating our office with Union Jack bunting and a tea party spread. We served tea in our best china, cakes (of course) and mini trifles.
We made sure to invite not just clients but also their carers and families because, at events like this, our elderly clients experience a greater sense of community and social interaction. And that’s important because it supplements their mental and emotional well-being at a time when decreasing mobility often robs them of friendships and sometimes family ties.
It’s also a helpful tool for caregivers to connect with their clients more deeply.
Companionship comes from a deeper level of understanding and appreciation, and with that, the care journey becomes easier to take together. By facilitating companionship, we can help clients feel the comfort and security that quality home care provides because they know they have care professionals they can trust. And that trust comes from the relationship they build.
As we opened our doors on VE Day 2025, we were greeted by a sea of red, white, and blue. Everyone had really gone to town, and it was so wonderful to see. Pretty soon, the sounds of tea being served, cake being consumed, and laughter filled the room. We heard from clients about their experiences of the war, life, and what they remember about VE Day. We celebrated their journeys, hard work, and tales of their families.
It’s days like this that make hosting community events so worthwhile.
